NIGHT BAKERS - 2023
“So I did. I did say some things at the cocktail party. And they’re true. The things I said. But my love language is honesty.”
Night Bakers is a play about a kitchen and a reality TV show. It investigates the loneliness of digital media, the failure of girl-boss politics, and the representation of friendship in the influencer age. With original music, live video design, and radical new writing, it creates reality TV live on stage.
In summer 2023, we began to develop Night Bakers, funded by Arts Council England. We worked with a really incredible team of artists to start staging this ambitious and distinctive piece. We also facilitated an educational outreach programme, running in-person workshops in schools on staging and engaging with the internet and digital media. We’d love to keep running these workshops. Let us know if you’d like us to come to your school.
Night Bakers was supported by Arts Council England, Lighthouse Poole and Ugly Duck.
